ABOUT:
Airfix QUICK BUILD is an exciting range of brick-based models suitable as an introduction to modeling for any age of 6 and up. The pre-colored pieces simply push together to build an impressive model which can then be decorated with the included self-adhesive stickers. No paint or glue is needed to make these fantastic models look like the real thing, and once completed there’s no evidence of any of the brick fittings showing. When built they are tough enough to be used as toys, or smart enough to use as display models. Either will show off those great modeling skills! Included with each model are a full set of easy-to-follow color instructions, free-rolling wheels for cars and tanks, and display stands for all aircraft.
The Tiger I tank, officially known as the Panzerkampfwagen VI Tiger Ausf. E, was a German heavy tank that saw extensive action during World War II. It was introduced in 1942 and quickly became one of the most feared and respected tanks of the war. The Tiger I was renowned for its thick armor and powerful 88mm KwK 36 gun, which could destroy enemy tanks at long ranges. This combination of firepower and protection made the Tiger I a formidable opponent on the battlefield.
The Tiger I first saw combat on the Eastern Front, where it was deployed to counter the Soviet T-34 and KV-1 tanks. It proved highly effective in engagements such as the Battle of Leningrad and the Battle of Kursk. Its ability to engage and destroy enemy tanks from a distance gave German forces a significant advantage in tank battles. However, the Tiger I’s heavy weight and mechanical complexity led to reliability issues and logistical challenges, which limited its operational effectiveness.
In addition to the Eastern Front, the Tiger I was also deployed in North Africa and Western Europe. In North Africa, it saw action with the Afrika Korps under the command of Field Marshal Erwin Rommel. In Western Europe, the Tiger I participated in key battles such as the Normandy Invasion, the Battle of the Bulge, and the defense of Germany in the final stages of the war. Despite its formidable capabilities, the Tiger I was eventually outnumbered and outmatched by the sheer quantity and technological advancements of Allied tanks.
Featuring detailed craftsmanship and accurate markings, this 1:35 scale QUICKBUILD model captures the essence of one of World War II’s most iconic tanks. It is a must-have addition to any collection, honoring the legacy of the Tiger I and its role in some of the most significant battles of the war.
